Blue Lightning Decks & Patios was founded by our family in 2011. In its early years, the company focused on residential construction and structural framing, building a deep foundation of technical expertise across Northern Virginia.
In 2019, the brand was strategically reconverted and repositioned as a full-service outdoor living company — integrating design, construction, and project management under one roof. Today, Blue Lightning is one of the most trusted names in premium outdoor living across the DMV, with 850+ completed projects and a reputation built on execution, not promises.
Headquartered in Herndon, VA, we operate as a true Design + Build firm — meaning every project is managed by one integrated team from the first sketch to the final nail. No passing the baton to subcontractors on work that matters.

With expertise spanning $20M+ in completed projects, he brings a rare combination of structural precision and aesthetic vision to every engagement. He personally meets with every client and oversees every installation.

Walter Caballero
Walter Caballero is the driving force behind operations, bringing over 26 years of hands-on experience in the construction industry. As a Class A licensed general contractor, he has successfully led projects across both commercial and residential sectors. Fully certified by OSHA and DPOR, Walter combines deep technical expertise with operational leadership, ensuring every project is built to the highest standards.

Gary Anderson
After honorable service in the United States Marine Corps and 16 years safeguarding U.S. embassies abroad with the State Department, Gary transitioned into construction in 2012. His military precision and diplomatic poise ensure clients receive expertise, care, and integrity second to none — guiding every client through each step with absolute excellence.
